Overlap is a fun quarterly show & tell night for animators and animation lovers to show work, share ideas and hang out.

We'll be at our new, roomier home, The Crossing. Jonathan Djob Nkondo will be our special guest, animators will be show&telling their films, and as ever, Louis Hudson will bring costumed chaos as host.

We’re very proud to have the world acclaimed Jonathan Djob Nkondo as our guest! Jonathan really is an artist’s artist. His work often features captivating, dreamlike and introspective dreamlike narratives that combine the organic with geometric forms. 

Raised in Paris, Jonathan studied animation at Goblins. His recognisable style has appeared in Adult Swim’s Scavenger’s Reign, Netflix’s Love Death and Robots, and most recently directing his own segment on Gorillaz’s The Mountain, the Moon Cave and the Sad God.

We’ll get an insight into how his different artistic outlets interact including: illustration, animation, graphic novels, graffiti and sculpture. Grafitti logos informing scultural design. Comic book frames manipulating space in film. Dreams informing narrative.

Our new space at The Crossing gives us immense screen and sound, while retaining the same old messy Overlap atmosphere. Normally the black box space is set up for gigs or with tiered seating, but we'll be filling it with tables, chairs, a bar, and hopefully a food offering. (You'll still have to walk through a weird bit of college building to go to the toilet though).
